Sidwella is the patron saint of Exeter. The daughter of a nobleman, she is famed for taking food to the poor outside the city gates.
Burn the Curtain felt it was high time her presence was felt on the city streets again, and so we built her as a giant 4-metre tall puppet.
“Huge kudos to you folks for organising such a great event…what a wonderful evening. The parade was a blast, thank you”
At the head of a procession of community-built lanterns she parades through the city, bringing in the spring, and celebrating the festive season.
“Thank you, it was a truly wonderful experience. Particularly meaningful for me with living here, such a beautiful moment to witness such joy in Sidwell“

In collaboration with St Sidwell’s Community Centre, Poet Claire Morris, and InExeter.
